Chart trading on Polymarket: candles, indicators and a trade ticket
The chart is for reading a market — its trend, its momentum, where price has been — and trading straight off it. It carries its own order ticket, so you place, protect and close a position without ever switching back to a ladder.
Chart types and timeframes
Pick the view that suits how you read a market. Desk draws five chart types over the same price data:
- Line — a clean single track of price, best for seeing the shape of a move.
- Candles — open, high, low and close per bar; the standard trading view.
- Hollow — candles that fill or hollow by direction, so runs stand out.
- Heikin-Ashi — smoothed candles that filter noise and make trend easier to hold.
- Baseline — price shaded above and below a reference level.
Timeframes run from 1-minute up to 1-day, so the same chart serves a five-minute scalp and a market that resolves next month.
Indicators
Open the ƒ panel to layer indicators over price. Each is configurable and colour-coded, and every one ships with sensible defaults so a new chart opens ready to read — you don't have to set anything up first.
Overlays on price
- Moving averages — MA and EMA, for trend and dynamic support.
- Bollinger Bands — volatility envelopes around a moving average.
- VWAP — the volume-weighted average price, a fair-value anchor.
Oscillators
- RSI — momentum and overbought / oversold reads.
- MACD — trend and momentum shifts via the moving-average spread.
- EWO — the Elliott Wave Oscillator, for the swing of a move.
The trade ticket
The chart carries its own order ticket, so reading and trading happen in one place:
- Back / Lay buttons show the live best price and trade at your chart stake — one click to open or add to a position.
- Turn on Keys for keyboard trading: the number keys fire your saved stakes, so you can trade at speed without reaching for the mouse.
- Open the order book / depth panel alongside the chart to see resting liquidity as you decide where to trade.
Reading and framing a market
A few tools help you plan the trade before you place it:
- Trend lines — click two points to draw one; use it to mark a level or a channel you're trading around.
- What-if — hover a price and Desk shows the P&L you'd bank by trading out there, so you can see the reward before committing.
- Auto-centre — keeps the last price vertically centred as the market moves, without touching your zoom.
Automation from the chart
The chart carries the same automation toolkit as the ladder — Get me out, Exits, Entry, Tick offset, Chaser, Drip feed, Scale and Alerts. The only difference is how you set a level: click the chart where it should fire instead of clicking a rung. Everything downstream behaves exactly as it does on the ladder.
Two tools are ladder-only: position reduction and cross-market zero. Both act across markets, so they live on the ladder rather than the single-market chart.
