Polymarket trading tips: good habits for using Desk
Desk gives you a professional terminal for Polymarket — but the tools work best alongside a few sensible habits. These aren't rules, just the small disciplines that keep your risk bounded and your automations doing what you expect.
Keep Desk open while automations run
Exits, entries, chasers and drips are watched by the app. They only fire while Desk is open and connected — close it and they stop. If you've armed a stop or set an order working, leave Desk running until it's done its job.
Flatten before a market resolves
Each ladder shows a countdown with the time left in the market. If you don't want to ride a position all the way to settlement, trade out before the market resolves — the countdown is your cue to decide whether you're holding to the end or taking the trade off first.
Your keys stay yours
Desk is non-custodial and trading-only. It never holds your funds and can't move money out of your wallet — your key lives in your device's secure storage and stays there. Deposits and withdrawals still happen on Polymarket itself; Desk only places trades.
Trade from a wallet you fund for trading
Connect a key that holds your active trading funds — not your whole balance. That way a lost device or key is bounded to what you were trading with, rather than everything you own. Keep the machine running Desk clean and up to date, too.
Start small
When you're learning a new tool, set your quick-stake buttons low. Get a feel for how a chaser reprices or how a scale spreads before there's real size behind it, then raise the buttons once the tool is second nature.
Use Liability mode early
