How to track whales and smart money on Polymarket

desk Live shows where the big money is moving — a real-time feed of net whale flow and top holders, so you can see conviction building in a market, or draining out of it, as it happens.

Why prediction-market flow is trackable

Polymarket positions settle on a public, on-chain exchange. Every trade and every holding is recorded openly, tied to a wallet — so unlike a private book, you can actually see who holds what and how positions are changing in real time. That's what makes "whale tracking" possible here: the raw data is public. desk Live reads that flow and presents it as something you can act on rather than a wall of transactions.

What desk Live shows

Two readings sit at the centre of the feed:

  • Net whale flow — the direction and weight of large money moving in a market: are big traders buying into an outcome, or selling out of it?
  • Top holders — the wallets with the largest positions, and how those positions are shifting.

Together they tell you whether the smart money agrees with the current price, or is quietly leaning the other way.

The feed updates in real time, so you're not reading yesterday's positioning — you're watching money commit or retreat as the market you're trading moves under it. That's the difference between a static leaderboard and a live conviction read: you can see a whale start to build before the position is large enough to show up anywhere else.

Scope tabs

desk Live is organised by four scopes, so you can zoom from a single market out to the whole platform:

  • This market — flow on the market you're focused on right now.
  • Global — the biggest moves happening anywhere on Polymarket at this moment.
  • Leaders — the standout traders by activity, the wallets worth watching.
  • Following — the wallets you've chosen to track, in one place.

Using flow as a signal

Read net flow and top holders alongside price, not instead of it. Price tells you where the market is; flow tells you who's behind the move and how committed they are. A price ticking up on thin, scattered buying is a very different picture from the same move backed by whales adding size — and top holders quietly trimming into a rally is worth noticing before the price catches up.

  1. Check the current price and the direction of the last move.
  2. Look at net whale flow: does the big money confirm the move, or fade it?
  3. Glance at top holders: are the largest positions growing or shrinking?
  4. Only then decide whether the flow strengthens or weakens your own read.
Keep it honest

This is a signal, not a guarantee. Whales are wrong sometimes, and large positions can be hedges rather than convictions. Flow sharpens your judgement; it doesn't replace it, and it never removes your own risk.
